Our Beliefs

At Lakewood, we gladly confess the historic Christian faith. Lakewood is a Reformed church plant in its early stages, and right now the core of our life together is a Sunday night Bible study as we prayerfully work toward organizing as a local church.

We embrace the great doctrines of the Reformation, with a strong emphasis on the authority of Scripture and salvation by grace alone through faith alone in Christ alone. We stand in continuity with the ancient creeds of the church and the Westminster Confession of Faith as a faithful summary of what the Bible teaches.

Our Vision

Lakewood’s vision is to see a rooted, joyful, and faithful Presbyterian congregation grow in Knoxville’s Powell community. We long to cultivate Christ-centered households, robust worship, and a culture of joy and feasting that overflows from the Lord’s Table into weekly life together. We care deeply about passing on the faith through explicitly Christian education and strengthening families as families.
